SUBJECT: SPS2UScreenInit() requirements; memcard-linux

First of all: thanks for SPS2 - really neat thing.

I have used the no-hdd tutorial to fit the kernel (the one that comes with the kit) and a compressed image with all the stuff I need onto a memorycard.
After booting an "ash"-prompt is available and /proc is mounted. (no mingetty or such)
I also put the sps2_mod.o into the image and created a new version of sps2_load which successfully loads the sps2-module. (no other modules are loaded)

Running from the card it now _is_ possible to run a prog which uses SPS2Init() and SPSRelease(). (and work with the vu0)
However it is _not_ possible to run a prog which uses SPS2UScreenInit(0). As soon as I start such a prog, the screen turns black and stays black. I assume that the program does _not_ crash, since the numlock-led still can be flashed. (the same prog displays a nice triangle when booting linux normally)

A restart is necessary to get something onto the screen again. I am using VGA-output (and have a PAL-TV).

So: What exactly does SPS2UScreenInit(0) require?
What additional modules need to be loaded?
What is the minimum context for invoking this function?

Unfortunately I don't see debug messages, I cannot remote-connect to the PS2 and writing debug to the ramdisk does not help either, because its not written back onto the memcard.

Any help is appreciated, because I'm kinda stuck.
I am pretty new to linux and ps2, so I hope that post is not too stupid.
