The problem is just that distributing "happens" faster than you might think, as for example when you are doing a project work with sps2 and then give the Playstation2 as a whole to your lecturer.
If you however allowed to distribute SPS2 without any condition, this would be _very_ _very_ bad, since you would loose any control.
I do not say that the GPL is suitable for SPS2, but it has found a good path between denying any kind of distribution and allowing all kinds of distribution. (and the derrivative work thing)
(Maybe "borrowing" the idea of the GPL could make sps2 even more popular)
I really don't want to talk you into changing your license. I just want to show you what you current license implies.
