SUBJECT: Newbie to it all

Hi ive only just acquired an interest in the PS2 Linux due to research on my course. I am studying a Games development course for the next 4 years. In this course I will be covering all career routes of the games industry, including concept work, programming and also 3d Modelling and other aspects of the media. Anyway putting aside my short bio because my lesson will start soon but I am asking a question about this ps2 Linux stuff to people out there who know about this, the website will probs tell me but I need to meet the girlfriend then go to my lessons so:

1) If I get myself the ps2 Linux package, will I need to have internet access to use it.

2) With the ps2 Linux package can I start to understand programming a little bit more.

3) If the Linux software does let me program, is it possible to create games onto my ps2 using the ps2 Linux software. I'm not talking grand scale ps2 games to program and run, I just mean perhaps 16 bit or 8 bit games.

Like I said I'm sure the website will teach me a lot but I'm already late as it is so I won't have time to check it out. Sorry to be lazy guys :S
