SUBJECT: RE: linux kit too expensive!

Hi, all.

I have to agree that $200 US is too much for the kit. I would absolutely love to get a hold of this and play with it (there are some things I would love to do with my PS2 like networked audio and media players & such). Unfortunately for double the price of a PS2 alone I can get a cheap PC.

Worse than that is the fact that I have most of the components already. I have the network adapter, an old 20GB hard drive, USB mouse & keyboard!! The only component I'm missing is the VGA adapter, and I'd love to have that anyway :)

So basically I would like to see the kit modularized. Why can't I buy the VGA adapter and use the rest of the parts I already have? Then maybe I could buy the software cheap too, or even download the ISO ???

I hope Sony reads this. I suspect there are a whole whack-load of people besides myself who think this. I mean come on - the way you make it sound right now I might as well buy a second PS2 just for the linux kit.

I'm a Linux guy through & through and the PS2 has some distinct advantages for what I want to do (native NTSC output, optical out, remote control options, etc) that either don't exist or just plain suck in a PC). But at $600 Canadian, I can't justify that.
