SUBJECT: Why doesn't sps2mod reserve memory ?

PS2GL, amongst all its pros and cons, had a good feature IMHO: using ps2stuff, it used a simple kernel patch ( installing everything is seriously not a big issue ) to reserve up to 16 MB of RAM from the Linux Kernel.

Why doesn't sps2 do the same ?

It would avoid all the code needed to do packet stitching for large DMA transfers.

Is there a performance reason why sps2 went the way it did ( honest question ) ?
