BY: ianc DATE: 2002-May-23 05:03 SUBJECT: (NZ) What's in my JUST ARRIVED LinuxKit4PS2?Hello all :-)
I'm living in New Zealand and just received my kit this afternoon!
The kit includes:
Network Adaptor (Ethernet) [SCPH-10350 E]
Internal Hard Disk Drive (40GB) [SCPH-20401 E] [PAL]
Maximum transmission speed.....66 MB/sec.
(Your HDD and Memory Card will be formatted
for Linux use and will not be able to be used
for other purposes... mentioned on the Linux
case)
Monitor Cable Adaptor (with Audio Connectors) [SCPH-10320 E]
Linux for PS2 Release 1.0 DVD-ROM discs (x2) [LDTL 00004 (PBPX 95509-10)] [PAL]
Compatible models:
SCPH-30002 (R), SCPH-30003 (R), SCPH-30004 (R),
SCPH-35002 GT, SCPH-35003 GT and SCPH-35004 GT
[NOT FOR INDIVIDUAL SALE] printed on the
case... (I think Sony is not planning to sell
it as selling game titles)
USB Keyboard [SCPH-10240 E]
The maximum power consumption of the keyboard
itself is 200mA. Do not connect the keyboard
through a bus powered USB hub (one without an
external power supply)
You can connect any PS2 compatible USB device
with power consumption of 100mA or less.
USB Mouse [SCPH-10230 E]
The maximum power consumption of the mouse
itself is 100mA.
The kit cost me around US$282.88(NZ$599.95 inc GST & freight). :-( I believe it's much higher then US one --- US$199.99(Kit) + $??(Tax) + $14.37(8.54 Pounds/2-3 Day Shipping Expedited). I was going to buy the kit at http://www.us.playstation.com (SCEA, USA)... but because my findings and the information from http://www.linuxplay.com/about.html:
> REQUIREMENTS
>
> A PlayStation 2
>
> Please make sure that you purchase the Linux
> kit from the same region as the PlayStation 2,
> in order to ensure that the DVDs will be
> compatible.
Do you notice there are [PAL] logos on two items of my kit? PAL HDD??? I really don't know why...
I hope the information here can help those who have "imported" their PS2 from countries other than where they are living. Please do keep posting what's in YOUR just arrived LinuxKit4PS2. It might also help us to find out where to get better deal and why different territories have different pricing. : )
Cheers
