Summary:Closing down playstation2-linux.com

After 7 years of service, the time has come when we must plan for closing down this site. We appreciate there are some valuable downloads and postings here, and we're looking at continuing to provide an archive of those for you once the site is gone - please let us know what you'd vote for putting in there.

SPS2? VCL? Let us know! We have a few months left to go, but by the end of October 2009 we will be looking at closing down the site as it stands now.

Thanks to all the enthusiastic members of the PS2Linux community!

Sarah.

SUBJECT: Good bye world

Hi there,

I started development with PS2 Linux whilst at University - my dissertation was based on a PS2 Linux project. PS2 Linux demos helped get me through the door at Sony Liverpool, to work on F1 for a year, and helped me get a job in the games industry after university and become the lead PS2 programmer for the studio. My first ever program on the PS2 Linux kit was a 'hello world' test, which seems quite fitting as an introduction in to the games industry, so I thought a good bye world post would be fitting to say farewell.

The PS2 Linux community has been excellent over the years, and it has been sad seeing it dry up, bit by bit, and now it appears the end is upon us.

I remember feeling frustrated that I never got involved with the Net Yaroze, and being part of that community, but I am very glad I managed to be part of PS2 Linux.

Many thanks Sarah, you're a star.

Steve
