SUBJECT: HDLoader and Linux

Hi! I am new to this forum but have already found many very useful hints and how-tos :) I have been using Linux in all it's variants for years now, but so far, I have not had access to a PlayStation2 until I found one with the network-kit for nearly free... I have equipped it with a 250GB hdd and acquired one of the original HDLoader-Discs. My question is as follows: How do you configure the system as to allow HDLoader and Linux to coexist peacefully? Because every time I attempt to use HDLoader, it corrupts the partition table and generally destroys the Linux-partitions. Is there some way to tell HDLoader to use a specific area on the hdd, ignoring e.g. the first 20GB? Many thanks in advance! :)
