SUBJECT: Help! Cannot install linux on PS2

Hi!,
I recently bought an old PS2 with the purpose of installing linux. I bought the Linux for PS2 kit , loaded up a 120GB hard disk, attached usb keyboard & usb mouse , controller and memory module. I have tried various settings, but I cannot get the system to boot up to install linux.

Can anybody indicate what I need to do to get the linux disk to boot and begin installation on the PS2 system.
Currently the PS2 tries to read the disk but just comes back with a disk read error!... It can play games ok however.

Please help !!!

Thanks,
Brian
