SUBJECT: `mount /mnt/mc00` failure

I was applying the memory card patch, following the commands at http://playstation2-linux.com/forum/message.php?msg_id=46548, when I got to `mount /mnt/mc00`, where I got the following error:

sbios_rpc: RPC failed, result=-1
ps2mclib_GetDir() failed

After this, the memory card is considered 'mounted' (so it says if I enter the mount command again), but I can't read it and I can't write to it - e.g., `touch /mnt/mc00/test` prints the error 'touch: /mnt/mc00/test: No such file or directory'.

I've found a post at http://playstation2-linux.com/forum/message.php?msg_id=45253 wherein janosek had the same error and he says he fixed it in a subsequent post; however, he didn't say how. Nor can I get any google search to turn anything up.

Any help would be appreciated.
